Ayurveda
History
Ayurveda is the flawless ancient scienceof
Life. The word 'Ayur' literally means "life" and "Veda" means the "Science" or "Knowledge".
Ayurveda emerged as a branch
of Adharva Veda. The oldest works in Ayurveda still available are Charaka Samhita,
Susrutha Samhita and Ashtanga Samgraha. The knowledge
of the use of various methods of healing, prevention, longevity and surgery came
through Divine revelation; These revelations were transcribed from the oral tradition
into book form,
interspersed with the other aspects of life and spirituality. What is fascinating
is Ayurveda's use of herbs, foods, aromas, gems, colors, yoga, mantras, lifestyle
and sugery.....

In Ayureveda we view a person as a unique individual made up of five primary elements,
these elements are ether (space), air, fire, water and earth. Just as in nature, we too have these five
elements in us. When any of these elements are present in the environment, they
will in turn have influence on us.
